How Does a Dump Trailer Work?
The 3 axles end dump trailer is mainly made up of a cargo box, chassis, and hydraulic system. The hydraulic system gets power from the truck’s PTO (Power Take-Off), using hydraulic cylinders to lift the cargo box. When the tilt reaches about 45°, the cargo slides out of the box, completing the unloading process.
1. Park on level, solid ground. Extend the anti-tip supports and check for obstacles (people, power lines, pits, etc.).
2. Start the PTO to power the hydraulic pump (put the truck in neutral).
3. Use the hydraulic control lever in the cab to slowly release the box lock.
4. The box lifts as the cylinders extend, tilting it backward (45°–60°). Gravity makes the material slide out.
5. After unloading, lower the box slowly, relock it, retract the supports, and turn off the PTO.
